Host: Universität Bremen (Germany)
Main supervisor: F. La Mantia
Co-supervisors/mentors: G. Zampardi (Universität Bremen – Germany), V. Vandeginste (KU Leuven – Belgium), A. Etman (Research Institute of Sweden – Sweden)
Duration: 36 months
Required profile: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering
Desirable skills/interests: Skills: organic synthesis, electrochemistry, polymer science and engineering. Interests: metal-ion batteries, energy storage.
Objectives: Creating sustainable biomimetic polymeric membranes for the protection of both the anode and cathode, and ensuring efficient and long-lasting operation of AZIBs at operational relevant working conditions. The expected results are to synthesize/polymerize and functionalize the bioinspired membranes, optimize the membrane manufacturing process to tune their electrochemical and mechanical properties, and study the compatibility and crosstalk of the membranes with the other components of the AZIB.
