Host: Universität Bremen (Germany)
Main supervisor: F. La Mantia
Co-supervisors/mentors: G. Zampardi (Universität Bremen – Germany), M. Bonomo (Sapienza Università di Roma – Italy), C. Müller (Grillo – Germany)
Duration: 36 months
Required profile: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics.
Desirable skills/interests: Skills: electrochemistry, physical chemistry. Interests: metal-ion batteries, energy storage.
Objectives: Developing sustainable water-in-salt (WIS) electrolytes with reduced water activity and expanded electrochemical stability window, investigate the compatibility of the WIS electrolytes with the components of an AZIB to ensure its efficient and long-lasting operation at relevant working conditions. The expected are to synthesise and prepare WIS electrolytes, optimize the manufacturing process, and to evaluate the compatibility and crosstalk of the electrolytes with the other components of the AZIB.
