Host: Universität Bremen (Germany)
Main supervisor: F. La Mantia
Co-supervisors/mentors: G. Zampardi (Universitat Bremen – Germany), G. He (University College London – United Kingdom), C. Müller (Grillo – Germany)
Duration: 36 months
Required profile: Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry
Desirable skills/interests: Skills: chemical synthesis, inorganic synthesis, electrochemistry – Interests: metal-ion batteries, energy storage.
Objectives: Develop and synthesize electrode materials that unlock the actual rechargeability of an aqueous Zn-ion battery (AZIB) in operational relevant working conditions, achieve high efficiencies at the negative electrode (anode), and high stability at the positive electrode (cathode). The expected results include the synthesis and optimization of electrode materials for both the anode and cathode (i.e. Prussian-blue analogues synthesis, funcionalization of zinc-based substrates, etc.) and the investigation of new insights in the compatibility and the crosstalk among the components of an AZIB cell.
